Can we use Winter tyres in Summer Season
Summer tyres are
specially made for warmer months. Manufacturing of summer tyres relies on a
different type of technologies and innovation for making the tyres to be the
best in the summer season. These are made up of hard compounds which can give
extra grip to the tyre in summer and provide enhanced control to the vehicle.
The tread pattern design, the tread blocks, tread symmetry and the depth of the
grooves of these tyres are unique to support the drive on dry and dusty
roads.
Top brands, like
Bridgestone Tyres, Continental Tyres, Dunlop Tyres Sawston, have
their brand-series of summer and winter tyres. You can purchase quality and
branded tyres from SawMoco Ltd. We also provide services for car repair and
maintenance at affordable rates.
Winter tyres and
consequences in summer
There are a series of
winter tyres which are suitable to be used in the winter season when the road
is slippery and covered with snow. These tyres have deeper grooves, different
tread patterns and are made up of different rubber content which does not
harden in the winter season especially when the temperature falls below 7
degrees Celsius. But a normal question is can winter tyres be used in the
summer season? Well ! the answer is it is not advised to use winter tyres in
the summer season. The consequences of using winter tyres in the summer season
are as follows:
1. Winter tyres shall
wear out at a faster rate during summer: Winter tyres have different rubber content and thus they
cannot bear the hot roads in summer. This shall increase tyre wear.
2. Winters tyres in
summer shall be costly: Winter
tyres, when used in summer, will require more gas for enhancing the control and
thus you are supposed to pay more for the gas. The Tyres Swaston shall
experience higher rolling resistance and this shall require more energy. Thus
it would offer increased fuel consumption and the worst fuel economy, along
with a high amount of carbon emission.
3. Lesser control of
the vehicle: If the winter tyres
are used in summers, the material with which the winter tyres are made would
become elastic and soft in summers. This would lead to unnatural deformation of
the tread. In the end, one would lose grip on the road if he/she tries to
accelerate. It is because of this reason, braking would take a lot of time
along with losing traction.
